The Inspiration Behind 'Different Colours'
For me, poetry has always started with the world around me. Different Colours grew out of the moments and experiences that have stayed with me over time, some loud and overwhelming, others quiet and easy to miss. From busy streets to still, open landscapes, each place and feeling has shaped the way I write and see things.
I have always felt that poetry can say what we often leave unsaid. A lot of what is in this collection comes from personal experiences, but also from watching the world, noticing people, and reflecting on small details of everyday life. Nature, conversations, and memories have all found their way into these poems in one way or another.
What to Expect from the Collection
A Diverse Range of Themes
'Different Colours' explores a variety of themes, including:
Love and Relationships: The complexities of love, from the joy of new beginnings to the heartache of endings.
Nature and Environment: The beauty of the natural world and its impact on our emotions.
Identity and Belonging: The search for self in a world that often feels divided.
Social Issues: Reflections on societal challenges and the human condition.
A Sneak Peek into the Collection
To give you a taste of what to expect, here’s an excerpt from 'Water Over Stone' [2], one of the poems in 'Different Colours':
"But my bed is an altar for a silent God,
a cathedral built of hollowed bone.
I sought the light, but found the rod,
and all I sought, I sought alone.
A quiet prayer that echoes back in silence.
